Conveniently Active Exercise Physiology
My name is Rhiannon Walton, and I am an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
I graduated from The University of Sydney in 2013 where I studied a Bachelor of Science (Exercise Physiology). For the first years of my career I worked in Private Practice and also within outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation wards in hospitals.
In April 2018 I left the hospital and started up my own Exercise Physiology business in the community called, Conveniently Active. The idea behind Conveniently Active is to provide a service that is accessible to everybody, including to people who live with mobility and health restrictions.
As Exercise Physiologists we provide Exercise Therapy for people who live with sub-acute or chronic medical conditions. We use exercise as a way to improve the mobility and health of an individual, and to better manage their health condition.
Services that we provide include:
- Chronic disease management
- Chronic injury/pain management
- Falls prevention programs
- Type 2 diabetes management
- Hydrotherapy
- Workers compensation and motor vehicle injury insurance claims
- NDIS services
- DVA services
- Weight management and general fitness
- Home visits, clinic visits, gym visits, pool visits
The reason I became an Exercise Physiologist was due to my own injury history. Since I was 9 years old I have been experiencing bilateral patella dislocations. I have always been very active. I’ve played netball, tennis, rowing, and I love long distance running. I have had countless patella dislocations, and I’ve had two major knee surgeries. I have high grade arthritis in my knees at the age of 28. Being so active it is very frustrating being limited by injury and pain, but my experience has made me a better Exercise Physiologist as it has allowed me to better understand the rehabilitation process as I have gone through it myself. I have learnt to empathise with people in similar situations. And it is my goal to promote exercise to help improve people’s strength, mobility and function regardless of their medical situation.
If you would like to improve your health and fitness but find that you are limited by pain, injury or medical conditions, please feel free to come and chat with me.
